For maximum privacy
In recent years, the debate on privacy and security of user data has become increasingly controversial. Unfortunately, the majority of VoIP calls are still unencrypted, even though Internet telephony has become an integral part of most people’s everyday lives.
Your privacy and the security of your data are important to us, so we have made voice encryption our standard for a long time.
Calls using IP telephony are transmitted with two data streams, which we both encrypt using basic protocols – both SIPS and SRTP.
Encryption via SIPS
SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) is used when a telephone connection is established between two participants. We encrypt this using SIPS, i.e. Session Initiation Protocol Secure, which secures the metadata of the callers via TLS.
Encryption via SRTP
After the telephone call has been established, RTP (Real-Time Transport Protocol) is used to transmit the voice. This is encrypted by us via SRTP, i.e. Secure Real-Time Transport Protocol, with which your audio data is transmitted securely and privately.
The advantages of encrypted Internet telephony
Without this encryption between your phone and our server, anyone involved in transporting your data over the Internet can listen to and record your phone calls.
Through our encryption, we establish a secure connection, not only during the call, but already during the connection setup. We actively ensure the security of your IP telephony, because voice encryption is automatically activated for each user.
In addition to security, the transport protocol used also offers you more stability than unencrypted protocols. This is robust and avoids possible disturbances by the router or the local network.
Voice encryption is a matter of course for us and is included free of charge in the Starter, Profi and Premium packages for all our customers.
